1/13/2024 0 Comments Oolite sand in a pico tank![]() I used a fine sand in my nano reef and it took 2 days. We were trying to plant about 50 plants in 0 visibility water. I used pure fluorite in my planted tank and for three days the tank was cloudy so I can relate. A nice sledge hammer will fix my "cloudy water" issue. Trust me I considered it but in the back of my head I thought "there will still be particles and you will have redone this twice and." So I did not and will not. Maybe you just need to give it a little more time? I haven't had any problems ever since, no sandstorms or anything liker that. I used fine oolitic sand exclusively in my tank, and it was cloudy for a few days before it settled in. Just getting over a cold/flu thing doesn't help. I believe it WILL settle but will a huge flurry of this PIA sand swirl up ever time I walk by? Have rinsed the filter twice and the milky water is unending. Don't know if having the LR in there will help. The filter is cleaning the fine stuff but still cloudy. I've had the LR in a bucket with pump for over a week now so I not only wanted to get it in the tank but to try an initial scape. PetCo had one left.open box.she dropped it 20%.got it for $70. I am now the proud owner of a Marineland HOT Magnum Hang On Tank Convertible Canister Filter. NO WAY.ĭid some searching and saw that someone had a similar problem and used a canister filter to help clean it up. I waited over night being hopeful it would settle. ![]() Well, I may as well have dumped talcum powder in my tank. ![]() So I have 20 lbs of that and 5 lbs of live sand: CaribSea OceanDirect Caribbean Live Sand. I'm thinking, "it all eventually settles.my bad.remember next time". AFTER putting it in the tank with SW, I see in wee tiny barely readable text under the bar code "Rinse Before Use". Had a problem finding live sand but found some "sterile" stuff that is really beautiful - called Samoa Pink from Nature's Ocean. My new Nano Cube 24G DX announcement was not supposed to start like this. ![]()
